2009 Toys for Tots Studio Day!

We only do it once per year - so here is your chance...

Saturday November 14th will be our annual Toys for Tots Studio Day. We will have 15 minute mini-sessions at the studio in Alameda - white background in the morning, black background in the afternoon. These  are great for a quick session that will make priceless holiday cards and gifts.

Because we have had no-shows in the past, we are changing our sign-up process this year. When you sign up for your slot, a $50 session fee is due. This fee is non-refundable. On the day of the session, bring a new toy valued at $25 or more, and your $50 sign-up fee will be credited towards your print purchases. We will donate all toys to Toys for Tot - no need to gift wrap. After your session on 11/14, we will schedule you to come into the studio for a 60 minute post-consultation to view the images, select your favorites and place your order with Anna's help. Holiday shopping does not get any easier than this!

Sign ups are at Pippen Hill on 10/17, 10am to 5pm -  Pippen Hill is located at 1356 Park St, Alameda, CA
Anna will be in the store from 10am to 5pm.

Any slots open after that can be scheduled by calling the studio or emailing us on Monday 10/19.

The Holidays are Coming Fast!

It is that time of year again - when everything gets a little crazy at the studio with the holiday rush. We are actively shooting holiday family portraits sessions. Our official cut off this year is November 14th for sessions that are intended for holiday cards and holiday gifts - which will give us plenty of time to create our custom design cards and beautiful fine art prints and deliver them to you in time for you to get them out for the holidays. If you have not scheduled your fall family portrait session - we still have some openings, but they are going fast - so call the studio 510-748-8959 to  schedule.

Itty Bitty Session #1 - Down by the Train Tracks

Friday Morning - May 15th - Join us for some quick photo fun as we launch our first "Itty Bitty Session"

These sessions are 15 minutes of active, playful photography at cool locations near the studio. These sessions work a bit differently from our other sessions, as proofs will be posted online for one week for clients to view and place their orders.

Cost for our first Itty Bitty Session - "Down by the Train Tracks" - is $125, and includes a 15 minute session with Anna as well as a $100 print credit for the session which must be used during the 7 day online period.

The first session will be at a local train track near the studio (that is not functional) on Friday, May 15th, between 8:30am and 10:30am. To book your Itty Bitty Session - call the studio at 510-748-8959 or email the studio. Full fee of $125 is due at time of booking and is not refundable unless session is rained out.

Halloween Portraits with Anna Myers - Making a Difference with Operation Smile

This year we have something special for Halloween - professional Halloween studio  portraits!  Every October we work to raise money for the wonderful organization, Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org), and this year we will be doing a Open House Fund raising event at the studio on Friday, October 31st from 10am to 3pm.  Bring your baby, pet, family and friends to the studio for your halloween portrait in costume - no need to sign up, just show up between 10am and 3pm.  Details are in the flyer for the event (click on the image to view it bigger):

Colorful, Fun Photography Display at Fudgelato in Alameda!

We just hung prints from our Fudgelato Session up in the Fudgelato store in Alameda at Santa Clara and Park - next to Doumitt's Shoes.  We did a children's natural light photography session in Alameda earlier this Summer - using bright, colorful walls found around Alameda as backgrounds.  Fun metallic prints of kids eating candy and gelato now decorate the walls of this very yummy place. Check it out and try the Papa Rocks gelato if you love chocolate! Angie says it is divine with Rasberry Zinfandel - so give that a try too!  The candy jars on the wall are always full of sensational treats to sample as well.  Lily loves the sour cherry coke bottles. Busy with Maternity, Newborns, Baby and Teen Photography!

It has been a while since I have added to my blog - but we have been hard at with artistic maternity and newborn photography,  delicious one year photography Location Sessions, and senior portraits!  We also have done a few commercial photograph sessions with kids and ice cream, kids and summer back yard fun - working with some local stores in San Francisco Bay Area - in Alameda. I will upload several blog entires over the next couple of days to try to catch the blog up!

Guess who was published in Rangefinder?

Nope not me - not yet.  I am very proud to share with you that my father, John Symonds, was published in the latest version of Rangefinder magazine!  Rangefinder is a magazine for and about professional photographers and represents some of the best images produced in the world.  My dad has two images published with the Julia Dean article as he was one of the students that attended Julia Dean's Photography workshop in Mississippi.  My dad has always loved photography - especially street photography and character studies.  If I have any innate talent for what I do, I have always credited my dad for passing on his visual talents to me. In addition, he has been a key supporter of my craft, and even gave me my first set of studio lights to get me started way back when.  He was never a professional photographer himself, he has just always loved it and pursued it as an avid hobby.
