Bay Area Urban Photography : Teen Brothers

When the oldest child is almost ready to go to college - it is a very interesting time in a household. There is much anticipation of the new life waiting, the new room that will become available, and the changes ahead.  One thing is for certain - the family life as they know it will be changed forever.  This is a perfect time to stop a moment and document those siblings at that point in time - before all of the changes.  Here are some images from a session I did recently with Henry and Ethan before Henry left for college - photographed in some urban spots in Oakland.

 

 

Bay Area Teen Photographer - Brick Warehouse for Senior Portrait Sessions

Just found a cool new location for portraits today! I love old brick, and this place has loads of it. Industrial windows, old brick - can be a very cool place for senior sessions, family portraits - even pet portraits as shown here. In fact I am so tickled about finding this place, I will give a FREE URBAN SENIOR SESSION to the first HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR OR JUNIOR that contacts me to book a weekday urban senior session that will include this cool brick warehouse in Alameda ($325 value - up to 2 hour weekday after school session with as many clothing changes as you can fit into that time - 4? 5? 6? Includes one facebook file.). Session must occur in April 2010. Now let's see if anyone is paying attention...

Bay Area Teen Photographer - Bennett's Urban Teen Photography Session

Wow!

This session was wicked fun! Bennett has a unique sense of style which works very well for a little urban industrial teen portrait session.  I have worked with Bennett's phenom mom,  spunky jazz vocalist Natasha Miller, for years and have watched Bennett grow up - but this girl has grown into quite her own person. Amanda's Amazing Senior Portrait Session and Quote Book

I am so excited to be sending out Amanda's Amazing Senior Portrait Album!  

We had so much fun at this session - which included some studio, some urban and some SF beach locations  - and plenty of clothing changes which Amanda was happy to accommodate!  This girl brought two suitcases full of outfits, shoes and jewelry.  And did I mention that Amanda drove all the way down from Oregon to do her studio + urban senior portraits with me?  Wow, was I flattered! 

For her custom designed senior portrait album, Amanda provided me with some cool quotes that speak to who she is and what she is about, and we put it all together with a vintage art flair into a totally cool art book.

urban teen model sessions begin - the 2009 Doumitt Models

We had a great turn out for the Doumitt 2009 Model Search, and the sessions with the 10 to 20 year old teen models have now begun at our ultra cool urban location featuring grafitti, industrial elements and distressed backgrounds - all shot with natural light.  With an urban skater / indie hip hop theme, here are a couple of pics from our first session yesterday - though I still have hundreds of images to develop...more to come...

  

Studio + Urban Bay Area Senior Teen Portraits

I have been photographing Adam since he was in his single digits, and finally it was time for his senior portraits!  Adam has some interesting hobbies and a kooky personality - so we set out to document this in his senior session.  We started out in the studio, and I photographed Adam as he cracked me up with his stand-up comedy routine. Yes, he is a stand up comedian in actual clubs and has been doing this for years.  And he is *really* funny - I was laughing the entire session.

 

  

We then set out for the train tracks and to find some urban areas to explore. Adam is also involved in Parkour which is is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body.  hmmmm. very interesting.  So we parkoured around the train tracks a bit and then found some more fun at some other local urban areas. Here are some of my favorites from our urban outing

Urban Cool Senior Portrait Session

Many are the days when I photograph a newborn in the morning who is just a few days old opening their eyes to their new world, and then move to my afternoon session when I photograph a seventeen your old high school senior ready to take on the world.  It is humbling to be part of documenting these milestones in peoples lives. 

I do love high school senior photography sessions!  I love the clothes changes to show the various personalities.  It is also a great time to get some teenage sibling shots, especially when an older sibling will be moving out of the house soon.  For Alex's session we started in the studio with some quick pictures of her and her younger sister..

Then we hit the streets with Alex to go get some individual shots for her senior portraits.  One of the benefits of being in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have some cool urban locations near the studio that work well, and I am always finding more.  At this session with Alex we worked quite a bit near the train tracks...and even found trains with graffiti...

 

Then we headed off to another urban area to capture her ball dress and shoes with a vintage brick background
